Bordeaux, France
Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle
The excellent 2005 vintage is showing its class in this modest little Graves. Chateau Chollet covers 67 acres with the soil composed of a gravel/sand mix, ideal for vines. Since 2001, the estate has been managed by Maxime Bontoux in a manner that respects the environment, but also follows the traditional winemaking practices of the area. The winery is part of the Terra Vitis network whose members undertake to integrate all the actors in our environment: man, the soil, the plant, the countryside, the flora and the fauna in an effort to symbiotically preserve the natural environment and human health. The 2005 Chollet is a superb wine with a nose suggesting ripe red fruits with a toasty note. The wine is beautifully poised, elegant and round. It is well balanced with silky fruit and fine structure. Drink now to 2019.
Mineral black fruit and graphite on the nose. Lively palate with fine grained tannins. Very well balanced; elegant, fresh style (Jane Boyce MW, JNWine).

A A Badenhorst Family Wines received a 5-star rating in the influential and highly respected Platter's Guide to S African Wines, 2013 edition. The family took over an ancient winery in the up and coming Perdeberg area that had been built in the 1800s and had last been used in the 1930s. This meant fashionable concrete tanks and, according to the 2009 Platter Guide, a sizeable bat population. More importantly, they acquired 35 hectares of mature, dry-farmed bushvines, which clearly deliver great quality and complexity.
"The red partner to the Secateurs Chenin, this is a Cape take on the Southern Rhône blending Shiraz, Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Cabernet Sauvignon. Like a superior Côtes du Rhône, it combines ample red and black berry fruit with a hint of pepper and some savoury depths and a fairly sturdy structure. Great for a meaty mid-week casserole. 89 pts." (thewinegang.com, May 2011).
"Tasty, with plum cake, braised fig and mulled cherry notes all woven with a lacing of sweet tobacco. Rounded, open-knit finish. Shiraz, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre. Drink now." (Wine Spectator Daily Pick, 14 April 2012).
A blend of 74% Shiraz, 10% Cinsault plus Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre aged for 14 months in old French casks, the entry-level 2010 Secateurs Red Blend has ripe raspberry, blackberry and wild hedgerow on the nose that is well defined and very natural. The palate is medium-bodied, supple on the entry with juicy bright red berries, raspberry, red currant and has a touch of citrus peel lending freshness and vitality. Drink now-2013. (Neal Martin, eRobertParker.com, Aug 2011).

Champagne, France
Pack of 6 x 750 ml Bottle
"Fresh, light, bready nose with balancing acidity and a light creamy coating in the pear fruit." Decanter July 2006. Great value Champagne, perfect for parties and celebrations. Awarded Silver Medal at International Wine Challenge 2009: Fresh, creamy, sweet fruit nose with light toast. Full ripe appley fruit, crisp with a touch of brioche on the palate. Good mousse with balanced acidity.
"The NV Brut Premier Cru is a beautifully complete, balanced wine with tons of harmony in its aromatics and fruit. The predominance of red grapes in the blend yields an expansive, creamy texture that makes this an absolute joy to drink. The NV Brut Premier Cru is 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay from vintages 2007, 2006 and 2005, with full malolactic fermentation and 13.8 grams of dosage. Disgorged May 19, 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014. 90 pts." (Antonio Galloni, eRobertParker.com, Dec 2010).
This good value grower's Champagne from Michel Forget has a fresh appley nose, an attractively full-flavoured rich mousse with baked apple background flavours, fine creamy textured richness and refreshingly incisive acidity with a lively crisp tang on the finish. Remember the name! 89 pts. (thewinegang.com, July 2012).

Loire, France
Pack of 12 x 750 ml Bottle
A round medium-bodied, dry style with nice ripe fruits on the palate, but with plenty of citrus zest too. Drink solo, or with fresh goat's cheese salad or maybe a plate of prawns. ready to drink but will keep.
Water white with a hint of green. Reticent nose just hinting at cool green and gunpowder. Crisp greengage and gooseberry flavours, defined but slight in build. A ballerina Sancerre. Touch of creaminess and sage. A little bit of fruit-sweet charm. 16 pts. Drink 2013-2014. (Tamlyn Currin, Jancis Robinson Purple Pages,11 April 2013).
"The Dezat family has been making wine in the lush green hamlet of Chadoux since the 1550s. Andre is aided by his two sons, so the future of this vibrant, scented, grassy Sancerre with a nip of lemon zest on the finish is assured." (Jane Macquitty, 50 Best White Wines, Times 25 June 2011 on 2010 vintage).
